Our Deputy Chief Executive, Eamonn Bergin, retired on Friday 7th November after more than 32 years’ service to Centenary Thurles. On the day, the Centenary Thurles Social Club made a presentation to Eamonn.

Joe Kerrigan, on behalf of the Staff, paid tribute to Eamonn who was the first salesman appointed to Centenary back in 1993. His initial role was to grow and develop, particularly with his technical expertise, sales of feed, fertiliser, chemicals, etc. throughout the Co-Op area. Subsequently in April 2009, Eamonn was the natural choice to be appointed Deputy Chief Executive, taking complete responsibility for the development of our Stores Division, the legacy of which can readily be seen today. The strength of the Co-Op has been underpinned by that stores division; indeed, it is our financial engine, without which we couldn’t operate today. Eamonn worked in a collaborative way with our Committee, managers, staff and customers to achieve results.

Joe referred to Eamonn as being a strong asset to the Society over the years. He thanked Eamonn for his support and advice and wished him well in his retirement.
