On 26th February, we were pleased to join Scoil na Maighne on a visit to Ryan’s family farm in Lisheen, Moyne – proud recipients of last year’s National Dairy Council Quality Milk Awards. 

The visit included a farm tour, with milking demonstration that gave a real insight into everyday farming. A particular memorable moment came when Tom asked if everyone would like to see a newborn calf – the immediate gasp of excitement said it all. The pupils’ enthusiasm and thoughtful questions reinforced the importance of educating the next generation about food production and the essential role farming plays. 

We would like to extend our sincere thanks Tom, Mary and Micheal for their warm welcome and to The National Dairy Council for delivering a very informative nutritional talk. 

Each child received a generous goodie bag from the NDC and Thurles Fresh Milk, which was greatly appreciated.
